Brief:
To create an attractive and inviting, multifunctional urban garden for busy young family.
Challenges:
Final third of the garden dropped by two feet , requirement for levelling.
Design Response:
The difference between the garden when we first saw it, to now, probably represents the biggest transformation we have worked on to date.
Not a completely unusable garden, just a simple lawn and fences, has becomes so much more and now provides an amazing external space for our clients to play, relax, eat and enjoy.
The ground floor of their home was being updated, a significant part of these works, was the installation of striking frameless glass doors to the rear of the property. The clients had no choice but to overhaul their backyard.
There was a strong sense of style in the interior with a real attention to detail, on trend furnishings of brass and ceramic and we couldn’t wait to pick up on this detail outdoors.

The garden features 3 different distinct zones. A lounging and fire pit area for catching the late evening sun. A kitchen station complete with integrated cupboards and Green Egg smoker. Finally adjoining the house, a raised, decked dining area.
Strong design detail was enhanced by near black feature fencing and integrated storage, contrasted with polished concrete style paving.
The added details that bring this garden to life (and we believe set it apart), are the external clay wall tiles, the brass and pewter light fittings, outdoor rug and scatter cushions.
The final coup de grace, is the tight planting palette full of form and texture in the shape of tree ferns, topiary and mixed underplanting.
